Most AI systems are rewarded for making meaning explicit.

Most AI systems are rewarded for making meaning explicit.

Explain the context. Resolve the ambiguity. Produce an answer that makes sense to anyone.

But intimacy works differently.

Private language is a compression format. A few ordinary words can carry decades because the meaning is not contained in the words. It lives between the people using them.

That changes the design brief for personal AI.

The system with the fullest explanation may be the one that understands least. Translate private language into generic prose and you can preserve every fact while destroying the key that unlocks the memory.

In memory support, that is not a cosmetic failure. The machine has replaced recognition with narration. It remembers your life at you.

The hard part is not teaching AI to say more.

It is teaching AI when almost nothing is the most faithful thing it can return.
